The technical department is a workshop at the Institute IWAR that supports all of its chairs with technical planning and practical application of pilot plants in laboratory scale as well as on technical-scale and large-scale installations.

Research Laboratory
The research laboratory of the Institute IWAR is working in the field of wastewater treatment, water treatment, waste and resource management that are accompanied analytically. The research laboratory is a central service facility of the Institute IWAR.

Testing Field Eberstadt
The research and testing field of the chair wastewater technology is located at the wastewater treatment plant Darmstadt Süd in Darmstadt Eberstadt. Research and teaching is conducted at the pilot plants for wastewater and sewage sludge treatment.
