Welcome to the chair of Wastewater Technology

The chair of Wastewater Technology focusses on process technology and development for treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater and sewage sludge.

Due to the variety of technological approaches in wastewater treatment, teaching and research further specialize on the evaluation of interactions and mutual dependencies of individual processing steps among these areas:

  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Anaerobic technology
  • Aeration technology and oxygen transfer
  • Semicentralized supply and treatment systems
  • Resource recovery and water recycling
  • Complex process chains in wastewater treatme

Teaching at the chair of Wastewater Technology is associated with its research activities. It includes applied basic research on biological wastewater treatment and sewage sludge treatment (e.g. activated sludge treatment, anaerobic wastewater treatment) as well as chemical-physical processes (e.g. chemical oxidation, precipitation/flocculation, adsorption) and membrane technology. Through national and international cooperations and industrial contacts students are enabled to gain insights in various research projects and occupational routines and to collect valuable experience abroad.
