IntenKS

The collaborative research project “Intensification of Sewage Sludge Treatment for Energetic and Material Use in China using Thermal Processes” (IntenKS) is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the CLIENT II funding guideline in the framework program of Research for Sustainable Development (FONA3). Under the direction of the Institute IWAR, department of Wastewater Technology of the TU Darmstadt and in cooperation with the Institute for Sanitary and Environmental Engineering of the TU Braunschweig, ISOE – Institute for Social-Ecological Research, Oswald-Schulze Umwelttechnik GmbH, Aqseptence Group GmbH, Haarslev Industries GmbH and HST Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG, material and energetic recycling possibilities of sewage sludge produced during wastewater treatment in China are investigated.

Semizentral

The joint research project “SEMIZENTRAL: Resource-efficient and flexible supply and disposal infrastructure systems for fast-growing cities of the future, Phase 2: Research and Development”, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is an example for an approach to sustainable settlement development of fast-growing urban areas worldwide. The Department of Wastewater Technology at the Institute IWAR of the TU Darmstad, supported by 6 other university institutions, 14 project partners and 7 sponsors from Germany and China, is leading the way in the research of integrated infrastructure systems.
