Intensification of Sewage Sludge Treatment for Energetic and Material Use in China using Thermal Processes

In the past, sewage sludge was often regarded as waste material, but an increased awareness of its potential for energetic and material recycling is increasingly establishing itself. This is also increasingly becoming the focus of attention when designing new treatment plants for sewage sludge. Considering the fact that in the near future corresponding plants for approx. one billion people are to be built in China, the German-Chinese research project IntenKS develops solutions for the management of residues in wastewater treatment plants under Chinese boundary conditions.
