SOKRATES
Systemic Optimization of Complex Recycling Processes for the Separation and Sorting of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

As part of the cooperation with the Fraunhofer Research Institute for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS, a subcontract was assigned for the management and realization of research projects in the context of separation and reutilization of complex material composites. The research focuses on sensor-based sorting of these composites for the recovery of high-quality secondary raw materials. In cooperation with IWKS staff, experimental data acquisition for processes of sensor-based sorting and material separation are carried out, with the subsequent data analysis via advanced methods. In connection with current research projects, model-based representations of sorting problems as well as systemic considerations of complete process chains and material cycles are to be developed.
