  • Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) for short-cut nitrogen removal
  • Reduction of nitrous oxide emissions during biological nitrogen removal

Research project:

The joint research project “Red-CO2-PNA” funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF): As part of the German-Israeli Water Technology Cooperation, the project “Red-CO2-PNA” started on 01.07.2021 in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Michal Green of the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion, Civil and Environmental Engineering in Haifa, Israel). The main objective of this project is to develop and optimize innovative reactor concepts that enable stable deammonification under mainstream conditions. Membrane aerated biofilm reactors (MABRs) could be used as a promising option.
