Molecular biological analysis directly on site? – Our MOBILab makes it possible!
In addition to our state-of-the-art microbiology and molecular biology laboratory on the Lichtwiese campus, we also have a mobile laboratory, which enables us to have not only our expertise but also the necessary equipment with us whenever we need it.
On-site support
With the MOBILab, we can support wastewater treatment plants and their laboratories by making our expertise available directly on site. This means that sampling and analysis campaigns can be carried out over a longer period of time without the need for on-site adjustments. One possible area of application is, for example, wastewater-based epidemiology to monitor the incidence of infection in the catchment area of the wastewater treatment plant.
Fast sample processing
When time is of the essence: In some cases, rapid processing of samples directly after sampling is essential, e.g. when analyzing RNA. Thanks to the MOBILab, the necessary equipment is available to extract both RNA and DNA directly on site. By eliminating transportation and thus saving time, changes to the samples are kept to a minimum compared to sampling.
Lab is everywhere
Our MOBILab is equipped with rechargeable batteries that supply our devices with power. This makes us independent of external power sources – sample preparation and analysis are therefore possible virtually anywhere and at any time. This not only opens up a whole horizon of new research possibilities, but also ensures that the MOBILab is equipped for use in crisis situations and when infrastructure is limited.
