M.Sc. Mischa Jütte, from the chair of Environmental Analytics and Pollutants at the TU Darmstadt, was awarded the DVGW study award in the subject of water for his master thesis, which has been conducted at university of Duisburg Essen (Institute of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry). The DVGW has been awarding outstanding theses in the field of gas and water for over 30 years. This year the award ceremony was recorded on video and officially announced at the gat|wat 2021 in Cologne.

In his thesis, Mischa Jütte dealt with the fundamentals of chlorine dioxide reaction with organic compounds and made a significant contribution to process understanding in oxidative water treatment. Mischa Jütte could show that although chlorine dioxide reactions are far more complex than previously thought, degradation of micropollutants in chlorine dioxide-based water treatment can be readily predicted based on representative model compounds. To this end, Mischa Jütte´s work positively impacts both water treatment praxis and science.

Currently, Mischa Jütte pursues his Ph.D. at the chair of Environmental Analytics and Pollutants (IWAR, TU Darmstadt ) and continues his work on oxidative water treatment.
