Decreasing the society’s consumption of resources and energy is a major precondition of sustainable development. How can we provide energy, how can we enable a good standard of living for a still growing global population, and at the same time conserve our natural environment? The Chair of Industrial Material Cycles develops models and applies system analytical methods – MFA, LCA, scenario techniques – in order to investigate these questions for specific applications.

Major goal of our research as well as teaching is the provision of sound scientific knowledge for a sustainable management of resources. The Chair of Industrial Material Cycles maintains a network of contacts in industry, administration and academia and participates in committees and steering boards. Our alumni work in application and strategic areas of companies, research organisations and public administration.
